Beers and ambiance were good. Lent itself to a shared order of Fish and Chips which were surprisingly quick and tasty. Service was good. It's the only game in this town but it's quaint, unique and fun.

Ye Old Pelican Inn is the only restaurant in the area between Muir Woods and Muir Beach. Given some of the reviews here, we set our expectations on the low side. While I am not a particular fan of English food, the bangers and mash and shepherds pie we had was delicious. We were able to sit in an outdoor seating area that was shaded and very comfortable for us. There is a much larger inside area that is pretty dark. We were happy with the food, the ambience and the service. Alas nary a Pelican in sight!

After a four mile steep-hilly-hike with friends, our reward at the mid-point (we had another four miles back!) was lunch at the Pelican Inn Restaurant. First, the Inn itself is a lovely building set in beautiful Muir Beach, not far from Muir Woods--famous for the CA redwood trees. The restaurant is an English Pub style with food to match. Diners order from the bar and take a number to any table or nice grassy patch on the grounds. We ate on the back patio on this lovely afternoon. Now to the food. I had the beet and goat cheese salad with walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette. The salad is beautiful, but small. Good thing I also ordered a side of "chips" because I needed to replace the calories I had burned getting there! Taste wise, the salad was delicious! The chips are pub fries. They were "crispyish" on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Good for thick-cut fries--I prefer thin cut and extra crispy, but we all have personal preferences. My friends also had salads, but different from mine. All the other salads were larger and more filling. Overall, although a bit high-priced for the portion size, the food is good and the location is spectacular! Worth a visit!

We tried this pub restaurant after an afternoon in Muir Woods with our family. The inside is a bit dark but there is also patio seating and many people eating outside with picnics. It's part of an Inn but plenty of room for people at the restaurant. Food is decent English fare. Portions small ish or just right with fair price 13-18 for the sandwich or platters and 20+ for bigger special dishes. Service was ok and food came out quickly once ordered. We tried the beef stew, fish and chips and pasties. Meat pasties had sliced beef and potatoes with a cream. It was all ok. A good selection of beer, cider and some cocktails.
